The list includes 45 members of the House of Representatives, Sens. JD Vance, Katie Britt and Eric Schmitt, and former ambassadors to Russia John Tefft and Jon Huntsman.
Responding to a new round of US sanctions, Russia announced Friday that it will bar 500 Americans, including former President Barack Obama and comedian Stephen Colbert, from entering the country.
The list released by the Foreign Ministry did not specify complaints once morest each individual, but the ministry alleged that the crimes included spreading Russophobia, supplying weapons to Ukraine and persecuting “dissidents in the wake of the so-called ‘Capitol storm’.”
The ban includes 45 members of the House of Representatives, Sens. JD Vance, Katie Britt and Eric Schmitt, and former ambassadors to Russia John Tefft and Jon Huntsman.
The ministry said it also denied a US consular access request to Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was arrested in late March and charged with espionage.
The foreign ministry said that was in response to the US denying visas to Russian journalists who wanted to cover Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit to the United Nations last month.
The most recent US sanctions targeting Russia include tighter restrictions on already sanctioned individuals and companies involved in the war campaign in Ukraine.
