A Russian drone strike destroyed three grain warehouses in the Danube River port in the town of Leni, Odessa province, Ukraine.

The Russian attack lasted four hours and left seven people injured, including one seriously.

The town of Reni faces North Atlantic Treaty Organization and NATO ally Romania across the Danube River.

At the time of the Russian attack, six Romanian ships in the port of Leni were evacuated to the Romanian side of the river and were unharmed.

As Russia stopped participating in the Black Sea Grain Agreement on the 17th and continued massive airstrikes on the major port city of Odessa, Danube ports such as Leni and Ismail have become more important than ever.

Ukraine exports 2 million tonnes of grain every month through the Danube.

The New York Times reported that the risk of direct conflict with NATO is growing as Russia attacks ports on the Danube.

It was the first time Russia had attacked a port on the Danube, and it was the closest attack to NATO ally territory since the invasion of Ukraine.
