Russia appoints new military commander

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed a new military commander following rumors that he is reorganizing his military presence in eastern Ukraine. This was reported by the Associated Press, a news agency quoting US and EU officials. It is reported that General Alexander Dvornikov has been appointed head of the military operation in Ukraine.

Jake Sullivan, the White House’s national security adviser, said the change of military chief could not hide Russia’s war strategy. Jake added that Alexander Dornikov was a military leader known for his atrocities against Syrian civilians.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Selensky. During a visit to Kiev, Boris Johnson accused Vladimir Putin of tarnishing his reputation by finding civilian bodies in Ukrainian cities. Boris Johnson said Ukraine had dashed Russia’s hopes of surrender. After the meeting with Boris Johnson, Selensky said that Russia’s attack was never limited to Ukraine and that it was aimed at the whole of Europe. He called on Western nations to tighten sanctions on Russia and provide more arms to Ukraine. Selensky also accused Russia of trying to establish a corridor between the occupied Crimea in 2014 and the Russian-controlled eastern Donbass region.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army announced that the Russian army had completely destroyed the airport in the central Ukrainian city of Nipro. Ukraine’s top officials say 500 Russian leaders have been convicted of 5,600 war crimes, including by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, the Russian military says it has destroyed Ukraine’s military presence.
