[Moscow / Kiev, 11th Archyde.com]–Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany held high-level talks in Berlin on the 10th to end the eight-year conflict in eastern Ukraine. The gap between Russia and Ukraine has not been filled, and the two countries have stated that they have not found a breakthrough in talks.
Dmitry Kozak, who participated in the talks on behalf of the Russian government, explained following the talks that the 2015 agreement aimed at ending the conflict between the Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian factions might not be resolved.
Ukrainian government representative Andrey Elmak said no breakthrough was found and that the two sides had agreed to continue talks.
“We look forward to meeting and continuing negotiations in the near future. All participants are determined to produce results,” he said.
Representatives of Russia, Ukraine, pro-Russian factions and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) agreed on a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine in February 2015 in Minsk.
However, conflict continues in eastern Ukraine.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergeĭ Viklov accused Ukraine of rewriting the agreement on the 11th, trying to select only the elements that are most favorable to its country.
Ukraine claims to be committed to the agreement. “The Ukrainian side is determined to have a constructive dialogue,” said Elmak. “Today’s talks confirmed that all participants had a Minsk agreement and the need to implement it.”
