According to various media, quarterback Russell Wilson intends to sign a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The news was reported Sunday evening by Adam Schefter ofESPN and by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Wilson would agree to sign an advantageous one-year deal for the Steelers, who will pay him $1.2 million. Remember that the Denver Broncos will have to pay $39 million to the 35-year-old quarterback next year following releasing him following only two seasons of his five-year mega-contract for $240 million signed in 2022.
He will battle for the starting quarterback job with young Kenny Pickett, who has had mixed results in his first two seasons in the NFL.
Pickett is currently the only quarterback under contract with the Steelers, with Mason Rudolph becoming a free agent following making three starts for the Steelers last year.
After a remarkable 10-season stint with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson had two subpar campaigns with the Broncos, missing the playoffs each time.
The Broncos went 11-19 in Wilson’s 30 starts with the team. He totaled 42 touchdown passes once morest 19 interceptions with Denver.
