Russell Westbrook in talks with the Bulls, Clippers, Wizards and Heat

What next for Russell Westbrook? Since his transfer from the Lakers to the Jazz at the time of the trade deadline, Brodie’s future in the NBA has been questioned. We are logically expecting a buyout with the Utah franchise, but the mystery remains regarding its next destination. Brodie and his agent would in any case have discussed with several teams in recent days…

Starting tomorrow, the NBA will hit the pause button and go into All-Star Weekend mode. But for Russell Westbrook, it will be above all the time to analyze the different options available to him and imagine what his future may be in the coming months.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski ofESPNCamp Russ is currently in contact with the executives of several franchises, including the Bulls, Clippers, Wizards and the Heat. Shams Charania de The Athletic confirms the Clippers’ interest in Brodie, who recently dropped point guards John Wall and Reggie Jackson to secure the services of Bones Hyland, Eric Gordon and Mason Plumlee.

So there is interest around Russell Westbrook. However, no franchise really seems to be in the mood to rush the former MVP to obtain his services. We are more in the “temperature taking” part of the process, both on the side of the player and on the side of the teams. Brodie wants to find a role that can suit him following the many turbulences he has experienced at the Lakers, and the franchises want to analyze the potential fit between Westbrook and their current system.

From his profile, Russ is not the easiest player to integrate into a collective, and his experience at the Lakers is the greatest proof of that. Even if he has shown his willingness to sacrifice himself for the collective by accepting a role of sixth man in Los Angeles, even if he still has great athletic abilities and this versatility that characterizes him, his big limitations in shooting can chill n any interested team, just like their propensity to need the ball (and to lose it a little too often…) in order to be able to influence a match.

So it will probably have to be patient to see where the next chapter of Russell Westbrook will be written. We should know more following All-Star Weekend, when we attack the home stretch of the regular season.
