Russell Crowe declared “Ambassador of Rome”.

Hollywood star Russell Crowe is declared ambassador of the city of Rome to the world by the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. The actor, a Alex Reed of the Rome Film Festival, will be presented with a silver plaque depicting the Capitol at Rome’s City Hall on Friday. Before that, there will be a short private meeting with the mayor in his office.

On Saturday, Crowe will meet his fans as part of the film festival, which begins on Thursday. At a master class, he will look back on his career, focusing on his best known and most loved roles. Crowe has been particularly associated with Rome since playing the role of Maximus Decimus Meridius in Gladiator. This led to Crowe choosing Rom for the worldwide launch of his second feature film, Poker Face. It is a thriller directed by Crowe and co-starring with Liam Hemsworth. The film will have its world premiere this coming Saturday in Rome.

Crowe, who won a Best Actor Oscar for starring in 2000’s ‘Gladiator,’ visited the monument in July with his partner Britney Theriot and their children. “Kids, look at my old office!” joked the 58-year-old actor.
