The spring flower market in Le Van Tam Park, District 3, on the morning of the 30th of Tet, was crowded with people, the number of visitors coming to look for Tet flowers was much higher than previous days. The flower pot stalls were surrounded by customers because the sellers began to greatly reduce prices.
“Sell quickly, sell quickly to go home, everyone. The price is good, take it home for Tet, auntie!”, the stall owner announced. Each pair of yellow chrysanthemums, untied and fully spread, costs only 100,000 VND/pair, more than half the price compared to before. The customer did not pay the price and took a few pairs home to celebrate Tet.
Mini but quite large ornamental kumquats were only 100,000 VND per pot at 10am. Many customers, following purchasing, praised and recommended everyone to buy and support the garden.
Ms. Thuy – a gardener in Cho Lach, Ben Tre, said the small type of kumquats cost 100,000 VND and are very beautiful. “I’ve been selling at this price since the evening of the 29th of Tet. There are a lot of customers so I tried to sell it quickly before noon 30th,” Ms. Thuy said.
Tabletop apricot pots are still 70,000 VND/pot. The slightly larger, more beautiful model costs 100,000 VND. At 11:00 a.m., many places sell them for 50,000 VND to return home to celebrate Tet.
Marigolds are 80,000 VND/pair. Previously, gardeners sold 120,000 VND/pair. Near noon, depending on the situation, gardeners continue to sell goods. Customers constantly come to buy flowers, the cars are filled with Tet flowers.
This year’s peach blossoms in Ho Chi Minh City are fading quite quickly, on the morning of the 30th there are not as many trees left as usual. At Le Van Tam park, peach blossoms are mainly in vase form. According to the seller, this year, they proactively brought fewer flowers into Ho Chi Minh City, the prices were softer than every year, so they sold well from the first days on the lot.
At the park flower market on September 23, the number of peach blossoms is also very small. This gardener’s price is reduced to 200,000 VND/tree for the 2m tall variety. Many customers were surprised by this price and immediately took them home to celebrate Tet because previously these trees were sold for millions of dong.
This year’s yellow apricot blooms earlier than usual. The purchasing power of yellow apricot is also affected due to economic difficulties. Apricot gardeners do not sell goods, but bring the trees back to the garden. From 10 a.m., trucks started arriving at the parks to carry apricot.
From 12:00 noon on the 30th of Tet, gardeners and sellers must return the park grounds so that people can enjoy Tet.
