– There has been a puncture on a Hercules aircraft. There has been no damage to either personnel or material, other than the tyres. As I understand it, it happened on the runway, says the Norwegian Defense Forces’ spokesperson Aleksander Engborg Hage VG.
The incident happened at 3 p.m. At 17.30 the Hercules plane had been moved and the western runway was reopened.
The C-130J Super Hercules is a larger tactical transport aircraft operated by the Air Force’s 335th Squadron. Gardermoen military air station is the home base for the four aircraft of this type.
– The accident was completely undramatic. It happens that a tire punctures, but I don’t have any statistics on how often. It has gone very well with both material and personnel, and we are as operative as before the accident happened, says Air Force spokesperson, Major Stian Roen.
Press officer Carita Storm Røsaasen in Avinor told NTB that the west runway was partially closed as a result of the delay.
– Parts of the western runway are closed. We have the option of discontinuing traffic with smaller aircraft on the part that is not closed, so most of the traffic must go on the eastern runway, she said at 4.40pm.
A large number of departures and arrivals in the afternoon and evening are delayed, according to Oslo Airport’s website.
– With reduced capacity, we expect delays beyond the afternoon, said Røsaasen.
