Two years ago, following the start of the Russian war in Ukraine, Western countries began to make it difficult for Russians to travel freely around the world, but soon they began to find ways.
One such option is the ability to get off a transit train at Kena Railway Station and continue traveling around the world or vice versa. It was probably the cheapest alternative to expensive and uncomfortable flights via Istanbul or Asian airports. Such an opportunity also existed at the Kybartai railway station, but the Russians did not use it, because it was not convenient – it was too far from the airport.
During this time, thousands of Russians took advantage of the opportunity to get off or board at the Kena railway station, but that has come to an end – Lithuania has decided that the opportunity to get off and board transit trains will no longer be available from March 1.
It is true that the two weeks of March were left as a transitional period, which was like a kind of concession to return home – citizens of the European Union or people with residence permits in the Community countries might still use this opportunity.
15min found out how many such people there were.
