Jeddah: The winter half marathon organized by the Saudi Sports for All Federation will be held in Jeddah on December 10. The rally called ‘Run Jeddah Run’ is organized in such a way that all age groups can participate. The federation said that this time was chosen as the winter season. The marathon will be divided into three categories: 21 km for experienced runners, 10 km for those above 17 years, and 4 km for children and beginners.
Saudi Sports for All Federation Managing Director Shaima Salih Al-Hussaini said that they always aim to create an event that is accessible to all and focused on the whole community. “This year, our aim is to ensure the well-being of all participants and provide a more enjoyable family-friendly experience for them and the spectators,” said Al-Husseini. The federation said the training schedule will be announced on its marathon website and social media.
A ‘Marathon Village’ featuring live entertainment, food trucks and fitness classes will open a day before the main event. The Jeddah Half Marathon is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Sports, in line with the ‘Vision 2030’ goal of offering a variety of sporting activities and encouraging locals to exercise more. More than 10,000 people, including international runners, participated in the country’s first international full marathon in Riyadh earlier this year.
