For several months, rumors that Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is seriously ill have continued to grow. Last September, several media even claimed that it was in a comawhich he quickly denialrecommending “strongly urge all those who do not know how to understand things on the internet to go for a walk in the fresh air and pull themselves together”.
However, on Monday, independent media outlet Novaya Gazeta claimed that Kadyrov was indeed ill, arguing that “Some things cannot be hidden, including the striking changes in the Chechen leader’s appearance, behavior and schedule”. According to the media, he suffers from pancreatic necrosis and is in a terminal phase, currently preparing his succession.
This new rumor sparked an immediate reaction from the manager’s team, who once once more tried to silence the rumors. However, this time the method was creative, since images of Kadyrov were shared. On these, we can see him sitting, in the middle of a meeting, holding a pen between his fingers, as reported by the independent media. Images which are not convincing, since the leader is completely immobile, speaks in a monotone and cannot move more than his lips when he speaks.
