Rumors claim that Elon Musk is already building city for employees in Texas

After rumors circulated in mid-2020 indicated that Elon Musk was planning to build a small city, dubbed at the time as the “SpaceX village”, new information indicates that the project is already underway and that it is much more ambitious.

According to information from the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, Musk is planning a new city for his employees. Currently under construction under the moniker “Snailbrook”the plan for the city would be located just over 60 km from Austin, the capital of the state of Texas.

Aiming to house Tesla, SpaceX and Boring Company employees charging a lower rent than seen in the surroundings, the plans go far beyond just creating a kind of dormitory for their employees.

According to information, Musk would be dreaming of building an entire city; including, populous enough to require an election to choose mayor and other parts of the executive.

In addition to the living quarters, there are plans to build a private residential complex where Musk would live. At the moment, the city’s land already has markings for pool areas, exercise and some modular homes – and a local school may also be in the works.

The official plan submitted to the Bastrop County Court of Commissioners shows more than 100 homes. However, the County itself claims that it has not yet received any request to make the project official as a city.

Texas law states that to be considered a city, the conglomerate must be home to at least 201 residents and receive approval from a county judge.
