The remembered “Jabao” has been suffering from health problems in recent times and there is a rumor on social networks about his possible death. However, Maridiano journalist Iván Holguín contacted his family and denied his death.
“Totally false” was the response from Estaba’s relative regarding the question about the rumor of his death.
Known as “el Jabao”, Estaba has several health complications. Since 2023, his family has organized a campaign to collect money to be able to care for him.
Gabriel Estaba is from Carúpano, Sucre state, played 801 games, scored 12,796 points, grabbed 3,303 rebounds and blocked 104 times during a fruitful career that ended in 2002. Then in 2004 he reappeared in a single game with Gaiteros del Zulia.
With his height of 1.98 meters, he managed to make Venezuela proud with the practice of this sport. He started playing basketball when he was a teenager: he was part of the Professional Basketball League and the national team.
