Crypto wallet provider MetaMask recently warned its users that it’s just fake news that MetaMask will be airdropped soon. Rumors regarding the airdrop expected on March 31 were quite widespread on social media. MetaMask’s token is already an old dream for many
There are quite a few Twitter accounts that link to phishing sites still regarding the MetaMask airdrop. It’s worth being careful with these anyway, but now, following the MetaMask notification, everyone should pay close attention to where they click. The trigger for the whole affair is probably the conversation in which the CEO of ConsenSys (the company behind MetaMask), Joe Lubin, talked regarding the launch of a MetaMask token on March 14th. This was mentioned years ago, so quite a few people are watching the developments regarding a long-awaited $MASK token.
Despite MetaMask’s warning, quite a few people in the crypto community are still waiting for an MM airdrop. However, the company did not publish any information regarding this, only warning regarding the current fake news. The community reacted particularly actively to the possibility of MetaMask airdrop. On March 27, for example, compared to the usual roughly 8,000 transactions, the portfolio produced over 21,000 transactions. This is not the first such case, since the possibility of a MetaMask token first appeared in 2021, such rumors run a good circle on social media from time to time.
