We have already reported here that the camera module of the “iPhone 15” should be bigger, as well as that the next Pro models should be a little smaller and thicker than the current ones. As the amount of rumors and information increases, it is common for mockups to be made, to get an idea of how the devices might be physically.
And that’s what the Japanese site Macotakara did, materializing most of the rumors we’ve been hearing in recent months. Several features were inserted into the models, including the USB-C port, different camera modules and the slightly curved edges, which are speculated to be in the next iPhones.
Something that 3D mockups allow to be done is testing the covers of current iPhones on future models. According to what was shown by the vehicle, only the iPhone 14 Plus cases should be able to be used without problems on the “iPhone 15 Plus”.
Due to the camera module being possibly larger, the iPhone 14 covers should not fit the “iPhone 15”. In the case of the Pro models, compatibility is hampered by the greater thickness and the different camera module, as well as the solid-state buttons, which will require a cover made with your haptic feedback system in mind.
Apparently, Apple is looking to differentiate the “iPhone 15” a little more from the 14, in view of the great similarities between the 14 and 13 models, with almost no innovations in terms of design. Bad news, though, for anyone planning on repurposing old covers.
