Rumor: GeForce RTX 4090 can consume up to 600 watts, and RTX 4090 Ti up to 800 watts

New rumors have appeared on the network from a couple of insiders regarding the upcoming flagship Nvidia RTX 4090 video cards. This time it was regarding performance, and judging by the disclosed details, those who want to buy a top-end video card may also need a fresh power supply capable of delivering at least 1000 watts.

According to insiders, the AD102 and AD103 chips will be extremely voracious. In particular, the RTX 4090 can consume up to 600 watts under load.

The general top line will look like this:

A number of power supply manufacturers have already begun to include connectors in the package to support next-generation video cards – but only one main Gen 5 connector. This means that if Nvidia is relying on a second 16-pin port, users will need to use 2 8-pin ports with a 16-pin adapter.

It is currently unclear how Nvidia will provide efficient cooling for cards up to 600 watts. The RTX 40 series is rumored to include a very large heat dissipation system. It is possible that some models will include hybrid cooling with water.
