Rufisque, Jul 18 (APS) – The Benno Bokk Yaakaar (BBY) coalition declared on Monday that it was sure of a “smashing victory” in Rufisque (west), during the legislative elections of July 31, due to the ”’unity found” of its local leaders.
”The unity of politicians has been found following they have learned all the necessary lessons from the last local elections”, assured Ndiagne Diop, the leader of the BBY list for the department of Rufisque.
“The victory of our coalition will be resounding because we have found brothers who have decided to support our coalition for these legislative elections,” added Mr. Diop during a meeting held in Arafat, a district of Rufis. initiative of former Minister of Justice Ismaïla Madior Fall.
Local BBY leaders have “learned lessons” from their defeat as mayor of Rufisque and other municipalities in the department in local elections last January, according to Ndiagne Diop.
He maintains that the coalition of the presidential majority presented the best program to the voters. ”The unity of politicians, who today work hand in hand, augurs a great victory”, assured Ndiagne Diop, mayor of Bambilor.
Albé Ndoye, one of the local leaders of Benno Bokk Yaakaar, joined the said coalition from which he broke away during the municipal elections last January.
The mayor of Rufisque-Ouest, Alioune Mar, also joined BBY. He had left the presidential majority coalition and was elected head of this municipality by the Gëm Sa Bopp coalition, led by businessman Bougane Guèye Dany.
“The support of these politicians from Rufisque (…) is a godsend for our coalition,” said Souleymane Ndoye, a candidate on Benno Bokk Yaakaar’s national list.
Local BBY leaders say they hope to get 80% of the vote in the department of Rufisque because of their “found unity”.
