Saturday’s “Friendship Match” between Ruch Chorzów and Widzew Łódź brought a lot of emotions. The match, which was record-breaking in terms of attendance in the 21st century, ultimately ended with a victory for Daniel Myśliwiec’s team. The goals were scored by Luis Silva, Jordi Sanchez and Bartłomiej Pawłowski from the penalty spot.
From a sporting point of view, it was not a particularly electrifying fight. However, it attracted huge attention due to attendance issues – fans of both teams mobilized to a great extent to set a new audience record in Poland at a league match. Ultimately, a staggering 50,000 spectators sat in the stands, including approximately 20,000 spectators!
Widzew’s team has recently become famous for scoring goals at the end of matches, but this time… By movement they started great. The first attack gave them the lead. Played by Jorge Sanchez he tried to direct the ball into the net in the penalty area Bartłomiej Pawłowski, but he mightn’t find a suitable shooting position. So he was relieved by someone coming Luis Silva, for which it was the premiere hit in red-white-red colors! In the following minutes, the hosts tried to prove that the quickly conceded goal had not broken them, but they might not create an opportunity to equalize.

A few moments later, the Chorzów team got their chance. Interestingly, he excelled in them, among others: Silva, who played probably his best match since he came to Piłsudski. It can be said that excessive self-confidence has put us to sleep Widzew.
