At the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (Tocom), the price of rubber for delivery in January 2023 recorded at 217.2 yen/kg, up 0.6 yen/kg. Rubber term in February 2023 decreased by 1.27%; rubber term in March 2023 decreased by 0.09%; April 2023 term decreased by 0.18%; rubber in May 2023 decreased slightly by 0.4%.

On the Shanghai Commodity Futures Exchange (SHFE), the price of RSS3 rubber for delivery in March 2023 stood at 13,310 yuan/ton, up 0.04%, up 5 yuan/ton.

Shanghai rubber prices increased once more in terms of April 2023 and May 2023; rubber term in June 2023 and rubber term in July 2023 also increased by nearly 1%.

From the beginning of January 2023 up to now, the purchasing price of raw rubber latex in the domestic market has fluctuated unevenly, in Binh Phuoc tended to decrease, while increasing in Dong Nai and stable in Gia Lai. In Binh Phuoc, the price of raw rubber latex purchased by Phu Rieng Rubber Company is at 270-280 VND/TSC, down 5 VND/TSC compared to the end of December 2022. Meanwhile, in Binh Duong, the purchasing price of raw rubber latex of Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company is kept at 281-283 VND/TSC, up 8-10 VND/TSC compared to the end of last month. In Gia Lai, the price of raw rubber latex was purchased by Mang Yang Rubber Company for 230-240 VND/TSC, stable compared to the end of December 2022.

The Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG) said that in 2022, the Group’s rubber output will reach 429,852 tons (reaching 106% of the plan), up 7% compared to 2021; consumption reached 501,322 tons (reaching 100% of the plan); purchasing 80,150 tons (reaching 100% of the plan). VRG has a plan in 2023: rubber production is regarding 425,000 tons, consumption is 500,000 tons.

In 2022, despite many difficulties, rubber exports still grew well compared to 2021. According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, in 2022, Vietnam will export 2.14 million tons of rubber, worth 3.31 billion USD, up 9.7% in volume and 1.1% in value compared to 2021. The average export price of Vietnam’s rubber in 2022 is at 1,546 USD/ton, down 7.8% compared to 2021.

In 2022, China continues to be the leading market for Vietnam’s rubber consumption, accounting for 74.62% of the country’s total rubber exports, with 1.6 million tons, worth US$2.38 billion. , up 14.6% in volume and 4.3% in value compared to 2021; The average export price to this market reached 1,490 USD/ton, down 9% compared to 2021.

In addition, in 2022, rubber exports to some major markets will grow well in both volume and value compared to 2021, notably: Russia, Brazil, and Malaysia -a… However, exports to some other markets still declined, such as: India, Korea, the United States, Taiwan, Germany…

In the coming time, China’s lifting of most of the restrictive measures on Covid -19 and opening the border will be a good opportunity for rubber exports to recover, in the context of import demand from the US and China. The country will increase in the near future.
