RTL is changing its football team!
The Europa League will lack an expert on the sidelines when it starts on September 21st. Former star striker Karl-Heinz Riedle (57), world champion from 1990, is leaving the broadcaster following his two-year contract has expired.
Since the task involves a lot of travel, Riedle would like to concentrate on his work as a brand ambassador for BVB.

“We would like to thank Karl-Heinz Riedle for the great cooperation over the past few years,” says Andreas von Thien, head of the sports department at RTL NEWS. “With his likeable and eloquent analyses, he enriched the RTL broadcasts of the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League. We remain closely connected and are open to further assignments.”

From the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg play in the Europa League and are already set for the group stage. Eintracht Frankfurt still has to qualify for the group phase of the Conference League via a play-off round (24/31 August). The exact pairing will be drawn on August 7th.
