FIRE EMBLEM ENGAGE
We begin our selection by cheating a little because it is already possible to obtain Fire Emblem Engage. Officially available since January 20, this new episode of a saga well known to fans of tactical role-playing games should delight Nintendo Switch owners. Released three and a half years later Fire Emblem: Three Houses (but without being the sequel), this fourteenth opus plunges us into a war between two dragons, one divine and one fallen, who covet twelve rings of Emblems to bring peace to the continent of Elyos… or destroy it. Four extensions are planned, including one at the game’s release.

THE PROPHECY
Square Enix remains on its momentum of the end of the year 2022 (Triangle Strategy, Tactics Ogre: Reborn, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII) by releasing a promising new license at the start of 2023. In The prophesied, the player will embody a New Yorker, Frey Holland, who finds himself thrown into the medieval-fantasy world of Athia. It is eaten away by the Mist, a powerful and mysterious force that corrupts everything it touches. The game will play the card of magic to the full, with intense combat and quests galore. The classic recipe for contemporary hit games.

DEAD SPACE REMAKE
We can’t wait to get our hands on what we consider to be the master of space survival-horror. Released in 2008, then followed by two episodes every two years, Dead Space returns in a reworked version and – we hope – sublimated by the performance of the latest generation consoles. We will find Isaac Clarke on an expedition to the planet Aegis VII, where the crew of a ship in search of resources no longer gives any sign of life. The original story will be slightly dusted off with secondary characters who will have a more important role than in the 2008 title.

HOGWARTS LEGACY: THE LEGACY OF HOGWARTS
At last! Fans of the Harry Potter saga await this game, which has been postponed many times, with the greatest of excitement. But if the adventure will begin at Hogwarts school of wizards, it takes place at a time before that of the young wizard with round glasses and the Fantastic Beasts, or in 1800. Inspired by the world of Rowling, the story of this role-playing game in the open world is nevertheless completely new. One will lead a wizard or witch who holds ancient magic highly coveted by goblins and dark mages. Let’s hope the title lives up to the saga!

OCTOPATH TRAVELER 2
The cuteness of our selection, lost among the zombies. Released in the summer of 2018, the first episode kept us spellbound with its intertwined stories linked to each of the characters. The old school graphics magnified by beautiful light effects also seduced us. So we are waiting with some impatience for this second episode, which, by the way, will not be a sequel to the first. We will find eight new characters at a time when the industry is booming, and where people do not all experience the joys of this modernization in the same way.

THE DAY BEFORE
It is the game of our selection that intrigues us the most because a month and a half before its release, little information has been disclosed on its content and its history. So why The Day Before is it also expected? Because its atmosphere is reminiscent of a hit, The Last of Us, that it looks particularly successful visually and that it is an MMO (understand, a massively multiplayer online game). For the rest, we know that we will play the last survivors of a pandemic that changes humans into zombies (original, isn’t it?) and that mutual aid will be a key element of progression.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE
Another remake! Certainly, but this time it is the most popular episode of the horror series Resident Evil, so inevitably, the idea of bringing it up to date is something to arouse impatience. Especially since Capcom has proven with the new versions of “RE2” and “RE3” that it knows how to perfectly pay homage to the old opuses of its cult series. Released 18 years ago, this fourth “remade” part should be darker, more violent, more frightening and of course, much more beautiful. We remember that we play the American special agent Leon Kennedy, sent to Spain to save the daughter of the president of the United States, who has been kidnapped by a sect.

DEAD ISLAND 2
We hardly believe it, so much Dead Island 2 comes back from the dead. After a rather nice first episode released in 2011, this sequel was announced eight years ago and went from studio to studio, to the point that it was long believed that the project was rotting away in a drawer. Nay! It’s time once more to smash zombies in an open world where dark humor should be constant. The action takes place in Los Angeles where a deadly virus is spreading at high speed. Infected but immune, the hero can count on a multitude of weapons… and powers.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA : TEARS OF THE KINGDOM
We know some who bought the Nintendo Switch only for this cult license… And the wait was long: the episode Breath of the Wild, considered by many to be purely and simply the best of the console, will soon celebrate its six years! This sequel to the adventures of Link, the great savior of Princess Zelda, will notably take players to the skies of Hyrule. Is it just a new power for our green-hooded hero or does that mean the adventure will largely take place in the air? For the moment, little information has been disclosed on this sequel, which we necessarily imagine up to our expectations.

FINAL FANTASY XVI
It’s the great return of a Final Fantasy, more than six years following a fifteenth episode that fans have had plenty of time to sand down. This sixteenth opus should be a real technical demonstration, using all the technical resources of the PS5 to the maximum, of which it will be an exclusive (at least temporary). As usual with the “FF”, the story promises to be rich and the lifespan quite long. Long story short, players will take on the role of Clive Rosfield, a warrior seeking revenge following being struck by a tragedy whose culprit is a certain Ifrit, a powerful creature. Patience.
