The Christmas market set up on Place de la Constitution will remain closed until further notice. In question: a fire that affected several stands.
A fire broke out in the square where you can admire the “Gelle Frä” in the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 1:30 a.m. Several stands and trees were devoured by the flames.
“Several colleagues were affected” confirms the restaurant Kugener in a message published on social networks. Fortunately, “the worst” might have been avoided. Indeed, according to the emergency report, the fire caused no injuries.
Good news when you see the damage caused by the flames. Indeed, according to our information, three chalets have been “completely destroyed“and another was”hit“.
“We will work together to reopen as soon as possible” writes the Kugener restaurant on Facebook, suggesting a possibility of reopening in the more or less short term.
For its part, the City of Luxembourg announced on Sunday morning that the Christmas market located on the Place de la Constitution would remain closed until further notice. “All other markets are open according to normal hours“, specifies the VDL.
Firefighters from Luxembourg and Hesperange were mobilized to the scene of the fire last night. This morning, a few firefighters and police were still on site. The Mayor of the City also made the trip.
