RTL Today – By plane, with a cruise…: The most popular destinations for the Easter holidays

The Luxembourgers will take the air during the Easter holidays, which begin this weekend.

The next two weeks are synonymous with vacation. Just at Luxair, more than 100,000 people will board a plane to go on a trip. This is 10% more than the same period last year.

The classic destinations of the company will fill up: Palma, Porto, Malaga, Nice and Faro are the most booked at Easter. “We serve 63 destinations over Easter. This will increase to 92 destinations in the summer. There are also all the Greek islands and many other summer destinations. A new one is Chania, for example” explains Daniel Colling, Luxair Tours.

To transport its customers, Luxair has 450 crew members, including around 200 pilots, and 21 aircraft. Plus two rented machines.

During the summer season, more Boeings will be leased. “We have started to invest in the future of Luxair”, underlines its managing director Gilles Feith, who also intends to surprise customers with new destinations targeted in the longer term. Senegal or Israel for example. “We have started looking for more distant destinations to which the new machines can take off. We are thinking for example of Jordan, Oman and perhaps even other destinations in Greece. There are still many things to come.

Failing to take the plane, some vacationers will choose the cruise insteadwhose boats are becoming more sober, energetically speaking. The Norwegian Fjords, for example, are in high demand, says David Lentz of ULT Cruises. Demand is approaching 80-90% of that recorded in 2019, before the coronavirus.

And you, have you planned a trip during these holidays?
