Crown Prince Haakon and Mette-Marit: Vacation with the Royals
The royals posted a series of summer snaps on Instagram. “The crown prince family wishes you a nice summer,” says the comment on the family photos that show the four on a shore leave in the municipality of Sør-Varanger.
The Crown Prince family almost always spends their summers at home, preferably at sea or on the island of Dvergsøya in Kristiansand. Haakon and Mette-Marit rent the “Villa Vogts” there almost every year, which is right by the sea. Usually the traditional summer shooting is also invited here.

In this year’s photos, the Norwegian royals show themselves casually in summery casual clothing – perfectly color-coordinated in white and shades of blue. If you take a look at the comment column, you will notice that one family member particularly catches the eye of royal fans.
Hardly recognizable Sverre Magnus
“Sverre Magnus has become a big boy,” writes a follower under the new family photos. “Sverre Magnus is such a handsome young man,” reads another comment. Many even find that the 17-year-old prince is becoming more and more like his grandfather, King Harald.
Sverre Magnus is now on an equal footing with his almost 1.90 meter tall father Haakon. Already on Norway’s national day in May 2022, the prince surprised everyone with his height.
But that’s not the only thing that stands out: his glasses are gone, his hair is casually styled away from his face – the young royal is slowly leaving the teenage years behind. After the holidays, Sverre Magnus starts his last year at school.

Haakon of Norway celebrates his birthday on July 20th, followed by his wife Mette-Marit on August 19th. A statement from the royal family has already revealed how the double anniversary will be honored.
A birthday party is planned for August, announced by the court as a “backyard party in the castle”. “Guests from all over the country” are invited to this.
