It is a state visit between two monarchies which are very close: King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived by train this morning in Brussels to visit our sovereigns. They were welcomed Place des Palais by an official ceremony. Our journalist Sébastien Rosenfled experienced this on the spot.
Difficult to make more user-friendly. The two sovereign couples, geographically very close, are also so in life: they are friends. They started their reign together 10 years ago. And it was felt this morning during the official ceremony: warm, everyone had a smile on their face.
After the welcome, King Willem-Alexander introduced the entire delegation to our sovereigns in the Hall of Mirrors. Although this moment is very ceremonial, everyone played the game with pleasure, especially the two queens. To mark this State visit, a guest book was also signed. Then, in another room, the royal couples were able to take the official photo of this exceptional visit.
Now, away from the cameras, the two royal couples have been able to reunite. But this is short-lived, since a walkregarding will be organized around 4 p.m. during the day, on the Grand-Place.
Despite the controversy
Among the personalities present at this ceremony, there was in particular the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hadja Labib. In full controversy over his role in the visit of an Iranian and Russian delegation to Brussels.
