Crown Prince Frederik (55) launched the “Royal Run” on his 50th birthday in 2018. Since then, the Danes have been running different distances together with Frederik and his family in several Danish cities around the day of honor of the heir to the throne.
This year more than 93,000 people registered for the running festival – a new record. The crown prince himself first ran in Apenrade on Monday, then in Herning. In the evening he should start in Copenhagen.
His wife, Crown Princess Mary (51), started in Nyborg and added another lap in Nykøbing Falster in the followingnoon. Queen Margrethe II’s four grandchildren – Prince Christian (17), Princess Isabella (16), Prince Vincent (12) and Princess Josefine (12) – also demonstrated their sportsmanship and ran together in Copenhagen and the neighboring municipality of Frederiksberg.
Meanwhile, grandma was cheering her on at home in front of the television: the royal family published a photo of Queen Margrethe II on Monday, in which she was watching the start of the “Royal Run” at Fredensborg Palace.
