On social networks, this Saturday morning, the Royal Palace published the first photos of Princess Elisabeth and her brother, Prince Gabriel, who each spent a month of July in a military camp.
After a one-year training at the Royal Military School 3 years ago, King Philippe’s daughter decided to repeat the experience every summer. And following a month spent with her comrades, Princess Elisabeth has now completed her internship.
“For the third year in a row, Princess Elisabeth took part in the Royal Military Academy summer camp with her classmates,” indicates the Royal Palace. “They learned to lead a platoon of regarding 30 soldiers. The theoretical lessons, tactical exercises and battle procedures placed them for the first time in the role of an officer. They also learned to use more complex weapons, such as grenades and anti-tank weapons. The second part of the camp continued in the Westhoek, where they also visited military cemeteries.”
”Learn to push their limits”
For his part, Prince Gabriel ended his first year at the Royal Military School with the traditional summer camp. “During this month-long training, Prince Gabriel and his classmates had to get out of their comfort zone and learn to push their limits,” says the Royal Palace on its Instagram page. “The program included obstacle courses, camouflage courses, shooting exercises and various sports activities. The collective exercises also helped to stimulate the group spirit.”
