The ties between the Spanish and Dutch royal families are incredibly strong, that is common knowledge. Last night Princess Amalia that she has maintained a close friendship with the Spanish king from her time in Madrid Felipe.

Cheering Amalia

The rest of the Oranjes have not been spotted at the Olympic Games for a while, but Princess Amalia is still present in the French capital. For example, she was seen yesterday afternoon at the horse jumping – a sport that is of course close to her heart. In the evening, the Princess of Orange also made an appearance at the 3×3 Basketball, where her highness was accompanied by none other than the Spanish king, Felipe.

Yesterday they attended three more matches and Máxima appeared wearing a very nice accessory, namely a bucket hat.

Cozy outing

The thrilling final saw the Dutch basketball players Jan Driessen, Dimeo van der Horst, Arvin Slagter in Worthy de Jong narrowly walk away with the win. And the tension and euphoria are clearly visible in the snapshots!

Besides the celebration surrounding that historic medal for the Dutch team, it was above all a very pleasant evening for the King and Princess.

Strong bond

Earlier this year, the Dutch and Spanish royal families surprised by revealing that Princess Amalia had spent a year in Madrid for her safety. During the state banquet of Willem-Alexander in Maximum On behalf of their Spanish colleagues, our king heartily thanked his guests for their good care.

“Last year, circumstances required Amalia to live in Madrid. From there, she was able to continue her studies at the University of Amsterdam. This was made possible by the kind efforts of many of your compatriots and yourself. A moving testament to friendship in difficult times. I would like to express my sincere thanks to you and everyone who helped arrange this,” the King said in April of this year.

Although the Princess of Orange is now back in the Netherlands, these snapshots make it clear that the bond with her temporary host is still very strong. There was a lot of chatting, laughing, and even a few warm hugs to celebrate the Orange victory. How beautiful!
