The past few weeks must not have been easy for Prince Frederik and Princess Mary. After rumors of an affair surrounding Denmark’s heir to the throne persisted, the couple now appears as a unit.

It began with the scandal surrounding the deprivation of the title of the children of Prince Joachim, 54, and ended with the rumors of an affair between Prince Frederik, 55, and the Spanish socialite Genoveva Casanova, 47. On Christmas Eve, the royals defy the negative headlines of the past few weeks.

Prince Frederik and Princess Mary appear as a unit

Hand in hand and surrounded by their children, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary, 51, walk from the car to the church. They smile and don’t leave each other’s side, seeming to want to send an important signal: We belong together!

In November, Spanish media published footage showing the 55-year-old walking through Madrid alongside Genoveva Casanova. They are said to have been created in October of this year during his visit to the Spanish capital and resulted in speculation that the two were having an affair.

Mary traveled to her native Australia

At the beginning of December, Princess Mary traveled to her homeland of Australia with the youngest, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, both 12. The royal family announced that Frederik and Princess Isabella, 16, would join. Prince Christian, 18, stayed in Denmark to take care of school.

The Danish people had to do without their heir to the throne and his wife for almost a month. Now the entire family is reunited and can hopefully celebrate a merry Christmas and put the exciting year behind them to start a better year in 2024.
