About half an hour before the start of King Charles III’s coronation ceremony, King Philip and Queen Mathilde arrived at Westminster Abbey. As expected, Princess Elisabeth is not present, but she attended a reception Friday night.
The doors of Westminster Abbey were opened early on Saturday to welcome guests. Among them, Jill Biden, among others, appeared, accompanied by her granddaughter. She took her place in the abbey next to Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine. Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky are not present.
European Council President Charles Michel and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also made the trip, as did French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife. Several former British Prime Ministers, including Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, Theresa May and Tony Blair, also made their entrance, followed a little later by current British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife.
