A case that shook Huila society, in 2021, when a citizen of Portuguese nationality shot his wife to death for alleged treason. This Monday, the 20th, the District Court of Lubango, after gathering the evidence, sentenced Walter Raposeiro, 65 years old, to 26 years in prison, for the crime of qualified homicide against his wife, Roxane Pestana.
Upon reading the sentence, judge Gerardo Ukuma, said that Walter, shot his wife at midnight on September 25, 2021, 200 meters from his residence, in Lubango, having then manipulated the scene of the crime to fake a suicide.
Meanwhile, Roxane’s family, speaking to the press, said they were satisfied with the sentence given as it demonstrates that in fact “in Angola justice works and even if this does not translate into the return of our sister, at least we are aware that justice has been done” .
The defendant’s lawyer, André de Jesus, said he was not satisfied with the sentence read, but he will lodge an appeal with the Court of Appeal of Lubango, to try to mitigate the sentence.
