In the documentary Roxane Bruneau: in her own waywe discover a woman who took the bull by the horns by standing up to her anxiety problems.

The one who, previously, could “love and hate” performing on stage at the same time, has thus ceased to give free rein to her anxieties.

“I’ve taken charge of my mental health, I’m practicing being grateful and living in the present moment,” she says in this hour of television broadcast Sunday evening and which can be caught up on TVA+.

“I tell myself all the time: enjoy it, have fun, because you are living the best years of your life.”

Having been medicated since last year, at her request, Roxane Bruneau feels more balanced than ever, a situation which allowed her to have fun this fall during the recordings of the 10th season of The voicewhere she proves to be a pretty resourceful and funny rookie coach.

Roxane Bruneau will shine on our screens all winter thanks to the singing competition hosted by Charles Lafortune, which is quite an accomplishment considering that her career is not yet 10 years old.

“Before, what I felt was like there was something holding me back behind the scenes. I had to fight to get on stage. There I’m ahead, I’m going to party with my musicians,” she says in the Productions Déferlantes documentary.

This more serene state of mind contrasts with images dating back to December 2021 when she launched the tour Acrophobie, at the Olympia in Montreal. We see her in her dressing room paralyzed by anxiety.

“I’m pretty tired! Why am I doing this to myself! What is your problem? [se dit-elle en se regardant dans le miroir]. […] Anxious in the same way, it can’t be. The fear of screwing up, the fear of saying something that will hurt someone, the fear of disappointing the world, the fear of losing them,” she says.

One day, she texted her manager, Valérie Hamel, to ask her to make an appointment with her doctor.

“I had never been game to do it, I was afraid, and since then it’s been day and night. I was always in survival mode all the time, there I live.”

This is a testimony that could inspire other Quebecers to consult, to ask for help, in order to get better.

“I’m not promoting drugs at all costs, but it’s just that it gave me a little temporary shelter to hide from this storm. It gave me this break“There to put my ideas in place, and I no longer know where I’m going.”

The documentary shows us an authentic thirty-something, who experiences ups and downs, seeking to evolve in her own way.
