Asuncion, IP Agency.- The works for the opening and maintenance of the PY09 – Carlos Antonio López route, also known as the Transchaco, marked a milestone in Lot 7, with the completion of 75 kilometers of asphalt. The tasks on this front are promoted by the Ministry of Public Works through the award to the Consorcio Asunción SA y Asociados and include from km 450 to km 525 of said national route.
In this regard, the installation of the polymer asphalt layer was carried out at km 525, in the city of Mariscal Estigarribia. Subsequently, some additional works established in the works contract would remain pending.
In total, 553 km of road works are being carried out from km 50. This is a historic commitment by the Government of Paraguay, directly benefiting approximately 60,000 people and indirectly, some 200,000 inhabitants of the departments of Presidente Hayes and Boquerón, in addition to becoming the greatest projection of socioeconomic development for Chaco, the country and the region.
The emblematic project was developed in 8 lots and was financed in some sections by the Inter-American Development Bank and in others, by the Development Bank of Latin America.
In addition to its rehabilitation, another 4 years of maintenance are included, under the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Contract (Crema) modality.
Producers in the area call it “the backbone of the Western region” because its importance lies in the fact that it is used to transport dairy and meat products, two very important sectors for the area.
