“We are the first and still the only ones to present to Lithuanians an innovation that has become popular in the world – autonomous stores. State-of-the-art technology makes shopping even easier and allows us to be closer to our customers, which is why we take the lead in implementing it. We want as many customers as possible to see the advantages of these modern shopping centers, which is why we moved “IKI GO” from Savanorių prospekt to Saulėtekis. The need to shop more comfortably here was obvious, and the location fits perfectly with our aspiration to constantly innovate – we opened the most modern store near the science center, where many innovations are born”, says N. Kvietkauskaitė.

Students are also invited to make their own requests for goods

The store is small, like a kiosk, but customers can find what they need here, and they can buy goods at any time of the day, even at night or early in the morning, before the lectures start. In the newly opened 16 sq. m In the “IKI GO” store, customers will find essential food products – from breakfast cereals to hearty lunches and healthy products.

For students’ convenience, there are ready-to-eat snacks, salads, sandwiches, as well as dishes that just need to be reheated – for example, the popular Kyiv meatballs, schnitzels or pancakes. The assortment offers eggs and milk, meat products, snacks, frozen pizzas, dumplings, soft drinks, coffee and tea for takeaway.

“We appreciated the specifics of this place, so we do not offer cigarettes or alcohol in the store. In addition, buyers will be able to purchase essential non-food items: toothpaste or brush, hygiene items, pen or batteries. When creating the product offer, we thought about what the future visitors of this store need,” says Gintarė Kitovė, head of communication at “Iki”.

Buyers themselves will also be able to have a say in which products should appear in the store. According to G. Kitovė, the assortment will be constantly updated according to the wishes of the students – for this, the store has a QR code, which can be scanned to make offers.

The goods can be placed in the backpack immediately

In the fully autonomous “IKI GO” store, shopping is independent, there are no cashiers here. The fact that you don’t need to scan products, or use a shopping cart or cash register helps to make shopping faster. Statistics show that customers spend less than 2 minutes per shopping trip in stores the size of Sauletekke.

When entering the store, customers only need to scan their bank card at the gate in a special terminal. During shopping, you can put all the goods directly in your bag or backpack, and when leaving through the gate, you only need to confirm the payment.

The system works with the help of high-resolution cameras and extremely accurate weight sensors – thus identifying which product the customer has taken or returned to the shelf. In addition, the whole process is accelerated by the constantly improving artificial intelligence.
