I recently had⁢ the opportunity to experience the Roto VR Explorer Pro,a unique ⁢VR chair designed to enhance⁣ immersion. Thanks to Vicky, I was able to try it out despite not having a prior booking.

Right out of the box, the onboarding process was ‌incredibly smooth. Simply sitting down and putting on the headset,with the ‌puck securely attached,instantly connected me to the virtual world. The demo I experienced⁢ was Ironman VR on the Quest 3, allowing me to explore an expansive open​ world and soar through the skies.

One of the moast intriguing aspects of⁤ the⁣ roto VR Explorer Pro is its automatic body rotation. As I looked in different directions, the chair seamlessly adjusted,⁣ aligning my physical ⁢body with‌ my gaze. This constant synchronization felt incredibly natural, reducing neck strain and creating a truly immersive experience.

“It was enjoyable when I had a clear intention to go in the direction I was looking⁢ at,” I remarked. “if I wanted to go‌ to the left, I just rotated my head, and I could⁣ find my whole body going to the left.”

“Sometimes, when I was flying as Ironman, I wanted just ‍to look at​ the landscape in all directions, and I found it annoying that the chair was always rotating to follow my head,” I explained.

Imagine needing to cross a virtual ‍street, scanning for oncoming traffic. In this scenario, you’d want to look left and right without your physical body turning, but the chair’s constant response to head⁤ movement could disrupt this natural behavior.

“Just to make‌ you understand: imagine the scenario where you have to cross the street in VR. You want to⁢ go forward, but you keep ⁢looking⁣ left ⁣and right to make sure‍ that there are not any cars incoming. In this case, you don’t want the VR experience to react to your head rotation, because you are just looking around, while you want to go forward. But Roto VR can not read into your brain, and it always assumes that you want to ⁤face the direction you ⁣are looking at, and sometimes this becomes⁢ annoying,” I ‌added.

another minor drawback was a slight lag in response time.

“The chair also ‍reacts with a bit of lag, so after you rotate your head, it needs a bit of time before detecting the⁢ movement​ and starting its automatic rotation,” I noted.

While‍ the chair ultimately followed my movements,rapid head turns resulted in a somewhat uncomfortable experience.

“I’ve tried to stress the machine, and rather of just ⁢gently going to the left, then slowly rotating towards the right, and so on, I’ve started moving with some quick action: I went quickly on the right, then instantly on the left, and so on. The chair reacted to all my movements,‌ but the experience became pretty uncomfortable. Especially quick left-right- “

‍Moreover, the chair’s lag between head movement and rotation, while understandable given its mechanical design, could be smoother. “It should ⁣have less lag from when ⁢I rotate my head ⁤to when my whole body rotates,”⁣ I thought, ⁣”but should at the ⁣same time filter more⁢ the signals so that it ⁣doesn’t perform abrupt left-right rotations ⁤that can be uncomfortable.”
