Some games make your head spin. Not because you have to think so much or because the game in question would drain your energy. But simply because it plays really fast and wild! Just like the frenetic game „Roto Force“ from Austria. The design for this started in 2016, and the mastermind behind this game is a motivated Styrian software developer named Anton Klinger.
In “Roto Force” you control a small snail that can defend itself with amazing agility. She can teleport through monsters and projectiles and then counterattack.
Everything turns, everything moves. “Roto Force” lives up to its name, because we are inside a kind of box (depending on the game world in a slightly different shape) from which there is no escape. With our snail we crawl along the inner walls of the respective box, teleport back and forth and dodge enemy projectiles. Because everything takes place in a small space here, constant movement is the top priority.
Although a funny game of skill doesn’t really need a story, there is one in “Roto Force”. It’s weird to the point of absurd: a lizard gives us orders as an intern snail, such as bringing the boss a meat loaf without a slice of tomato. Aside from the bread rolls, there is also a lot of local color at the start: In addition to the selection of various languages, you can also select “Austrian” (or more precisely: Styrian).

„Roto Force“developed by Accidently Awesome (Anton Klinger and Team) is available for Windows, Mac, Linux as well as Android and iOS.
“Roto Force” is a game that might have been in a video arcade 40 years ago. It is as fast as it is difficult. One is always tempted to dash and shoot frantically and aimlessly, but instead we should concentrate and make targeted movements. Once a game world has been completed, there is another tough boss. Once this has been mastered – usually following a few attempts – you will be rewarded with a new weapon. From classics like pew-pew laser shots to oversized lighters, there’s a lot to choose from.

The pixel arcade is alive!
Anyone who likes twin-stick shooters and modern arcade games like “Super Hexagon”, “Super Meat Boy” or “Disc Room” will also appreciate “Roto Force”. Although the game is challenging and requires patience and presence of mind, it also respects smaller time budgets. You won’t believe how many screen deaths you can fit in just ten minutes!
