Ross Lynch He took his first steps on television when he was very young. At 15 years old he was already starring in his own series, Austin & Allywhich was transmitted by Disney Channel. As is often the case with the channel’s teenage stars, the Disney boys and girls, she soon took the lead in the musical film Teen Beach Movie, whose success was so great that it had a sequel.
Now, with his band The Driver Erawill sing in Lollapalooza 2024 on Saturday, March 16 and they will do a sideshow two days before, on the 14th, at the Vorterix Theater.
During his golden years on the small screen, Ross Lynch made appearances in several of the most acclaimed programs among children and young people of the moment, such as Jessie y Violetta, the Argentine series on the children’s television network, which starred Tini Stoessel.
Before getting into acting, Ross was already making music. In parallel to his life as a Disney star, he formed a band with three of his brothers, which they called R5. Their success in Argentina was so great that they came on tour three times. But time passed, the band broke up and Ross got together with his brother Rocky to start a new two-person project.

Together they formed The Driver Era, the band with which they continued to drive fans crazy. In 2022, they visited the country for the first time with this new proposal, and caused a sensation with two shows in which if there was something that was left over, it was energy.
Next week they return to Argentina, but with a new challenge at hand: they will perform for the first time at Lollapalooza Argentina on Saturday, March 16, before a massive audience. But they will not leave behind the opportunity to see their long-time fans up close, with the show at the Vorterix Theater on Thursday the 14th.
The brothers come with everything, to show that they are up to the task of the largest festival in the country, and they spoke exclusively with Clarion of his previous experiences in Argentina, his upcoming projects and romance rumors between Ross and Lali Espósito.
The Driver Era will be presented for the first time at Lollapalooza on Saturday the 16th.
His love for Argentina
-In Argentina they love them, and, after two years, they are finally going to return next week. Are you excited to meet your fans again?
Ross: Absolutely. It’s surreal that it’s happening so fast. I can’t believe we will be in Argentina next week. Everything happened very quickly and it is difficult to finish processing it. But I’m definitely excited, to be there, see everyone and play some music, it’s going to be great.
Rocky: I can’t believe it happened so quickly either, I didn’t realize it’s already next week.
-What does it feel like to play in front of an audience as passionate and noisy as the Argentinian one?
Ross: It is fun. They honestly make our jobs easy.
Rocky: Yes, it is completely ideal for a musician. It’s wonderful every time we go.
The Driver Era was already presented in our country in 2022.
-This will be a different experience than the last one they had, because they are going to perform at Lollapalooza. Are you excited to play at such a big festival where there are going to be people who may hear your music for the first time?
Ross: It’s a dream come true to play at Lollapalooza. We love performing at festivals. It’s very satisfying to go out on stage knowing that half the audience doesn’t know you, and then halfway through the presentation, see them super engaged. Let them dance, sing and have a great time. It’s really rewarding to win people over. We love festivals and the atmosphere they have. We’re big fans ourselves. We want to see other bands and have as much fun as possible. It’s going to be a great trip.
-Is the Lollapalooza show going to be different from your sideshow in the Vorterix?
Ross: A little bit, but we also like to make it clear that we have an identity, which has to do with spontaneity and fun. We always seek to be ourselves. We want to show people what our band is about in the time we have.
Focused on music
-His new song “Get Off My Phone” talks about how difficult the process of forgetting someone after a separation is. Did any of you go through that recently?
Ross: The song is inspired by a real moment. Breakups are very difficult. It goes against our biology to separate from someone. Because we are tribe animals. So in our brains, we are supposed to stick together to survive. When that disconnection occurs it is uncomfortable and sad. The phone tends to bring back memories. That can, in some ways, aggravate an emotional wound. That’s what the song is inspired by. And I feel like it’s a pretty common experience nowadays. I hope that if anyone is going through that experience they can find some relief in the song.
This is Ross and Rocky Lynch’s fifth visit to Argentina. The first three were with R5.
-Is this single a kind of clue about what your new album will sound like?
Rocky: No, we can never repeat something we did. It is impossible. Even in interviews, we can be asked the same question ten times in a row, and each time a new answer emerges. It’s almost like a new beginning. This is how we make music. If I play 20 of our demos right now, each one sounds different, like they’re from 20 different artists. Each time the composition process is different. I always say that the formula is that there is no formula.
-Ross, you rose to fame as an actor at Disney. Do you ever want to act again or are you happy just making music?
Ross: I was literally thinking about that. If I think about it quickly, I’m happy just with the music. But I’m not sure. I’m already spending a lot of my time working. It’s hard to think about adding even more work to that. I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than working all the time. I’d like to act a little, it sounds fun. But I don’t like the audition process. I think it’s a false way to act. That’s part of the problem. Since I don’t like that process, I don’t start it myself. I’m not acting because I just don’t like auditioning. We’ll see what happens later.
-And you, Rocky, have you ever wanted to get into acting?
Rocky: When we first got to Los Angeles, we all started auditioning for commercials, but I didn’t really care too much. Little by little I stopped doing it, until I gave it up completely. But I always joke that maybe when I’m 60 I want to play a grandfather in a movie.
Ross: I think Rocky would be a great actor, he has a lot of potential.
Away from acting, Ross Lynch admitted that he is 100% focused on music.

-The last time you were here, photos of you appeared in clubs in Buenos Aires that revolutionized the networks and were a trend on Twitter. Did you have fun on the Argentine night?
Ross: Yes, totally. The people we were working with, the promoters from Argentina, were very funny. I don’t think I’ve had that experience before, going out with the local promoter. We hit it off with the team as soon as we arrived and had an incredible time.
-Did you like the music?
Ross: Both the music and the energy of the place were really different from what we knew. But we really liked everything. After all, it’s a club, where you’re dancing and drinking and having a good time, that’s for sure. But somehow everything, even that, is different when you travel.
The last time The Driver Era came to the country, the brothers Ross and Rocky enjoyed the Buenos Aires night and caused a sensation at the bowling alley.
-Many artists fall in love with Argentine gastronomy when they visit us. Did you like it?
Rocky: First of all, we have to say that we love trying new things. And for me one of the most beautiful experiences in life is going out to dinner. Sitting and feeling the vibe of the different restaurants is incredible. All you have to do is get the table and a couple of friends to share it. We tried a few things the last time we went and now we want to continue discovering many more.
Ross: We love the world of gastronomy in general. And much more if you share it with the people you love. Obviously we are looking forward to living that experience that we enjoyed so much in Argentina.
Between Ross and Lali, was there a romance?
The members of The Driver Era recognize themselves as fans of festivals, and they want to listen to Argentine artists.
In 2023, Lali and Ross’s fans noticed that they both began to follow each other on Instagram. A short time later they exchanged several likes in her posts, and Ross began to join Lali’s live broadcasts on social media. Obviously it didn’t take long for romance rumors to arrive. But neither of them had spoken publicly about the issue. Until now.
-Ross, you and Lali follow each other on Instagram and you liked several of her posts. Do you know her in person?
Ross: I listened to his music and it’s really amazing. I never met her in person. I don’t even remember how we started talking on Instagram or why. But we exchanged a couple of messages and we got along very well.
Rocky: What did you talk about? Tell us…
Ross: I honestly don’t remember, it was a while ago. All I know is that she seems like a great person. The last time we spoke, I remember she was leaving for Tel Aviv.
Ross Lynch had a virtual relationship with Lali Espósito, but he never met her in person.
Ross: No, because I never got to meet her in person and I am against online dating. It works for some people, who meet online and even get married, and I think it’s great. But for me particularly I like to meet people in person, find out what his vibe is and see if we really get along. Because sometimes you talk to someone on Instagram, you think you get along super well and then when you meet the person it’s not what you thought at all. And that world is definitely not for me.
