Roskomnadzor Blocked Ficbook in Russia Due to LGBT* – July 12, 2024

The site “Book of Fan Fictions”, also known as “Ficbook”, was blocked in Russia on July 12. Administrators say that this is a misunderstanding.

“ficbook.net” has been added to the register of banned sites. This is a Russian platform dedicated to the creativity of authors on the topic of a particular literary work. It is currently unavailable to users from Russia without a VPN.

In its Telegram channel (230 thousand subscribers), Ficbook reports that “there was a misunderstanding, and we are working to fix it.”

Several days ago, Roskomnadzor sent a request to the site administrators to remove LGBT content. The regulator claimed that the resource hosted many such sections and that Ficbook had been repeatedly asked to remove them. In fact, RKN is convinced that the prohibited information was simply transferred from one page to another.
