Participation in the war is not limited to carrying weapons only, and this is the case of Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
Suddenly and without introduction, the player found himself participating in the Russian-Ukrainian war, through the “Save Ukraine Now” initiative, which was launched in Ukraine to help the army in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The initiative included the Portuguese player Ronaldo among the participants in supporting the Ukrainian army, by offering a shirt signed by the player at an auction.
And, according to the local (Ukrinform) agency, the shirt was sold for more than two thousand euros, on Monday.
The echo of the participation in the name of Ronaldo did not stop at the auction limits, but it reached the player himself, according to the initiative center via “Facebook”.
The center said: “We have incredible news! The story of the shirt has reached Cristiano Ronaldo and today we received the following reaction from the legendary footballer.”
The Portuguese striker responded as follows: “I hope that the shirt I wore once morest Ukraine in 2019 will help the youth to have a better future and I want to congratulate the Ukrainian Football Federation. For this work. I pray for peace.”
The signed Cristiano shirt sold for 70,000 hryvnia (the local Ukrainian currency) at a charity auction, an estimated amount of regarding 2,200 euros.
The money obtained will be used to purchase medicines for the army, according to the initiative’s organizers.
The source added that the shirt signed by the famous Portuguese player in the Portugal-Ukraine match on March 22, 2019 in Lisbon, belongs to a 14-year-old boy from Ivano-Frankivsk.
