Ronaldo announces: I will leave Al-Nassr and Portugal in one case

“Don” is currently in a training camp with Portugal, in preparation for the matches against Croatia and Scotland, in the first and second rounds of the European Nations League, on the fifth and eighth of September.

“Don” said yesterday, Monday, that he will be “the first to leave” when he feels that he is not a regular, whether for his club, Al-Nassr Saudi Club, or the “Sailors” national team.

In a press conference with the Portuguese national team, Cristiano said: “I know what I can do, and I will continue to do so. I am very positive about the present. I feel happy. When that time comes, I will advance.”

He continued: “I will always think that I will be a starter, but I will always respect the coach. As long as there are professional ethics, I will respect the coaches. However, if the opposite happens, there will be some controversy (laughs).”

Cristiano added that he feels “good, almost fit.”

Asked about continuing his international career until the 2026 World Cup, he commented: “I am thinking of just enjoying the present moment!”

The Madeira Rocket moved on to talk about his country’s participation in the European Nations Cup “Euro 2024”, which it bid farewell to in the quarter-finals after losing to France.

“It wasn’t a disappointing participation, it was part of the team’s growth, we need some time to rebuild, so in my opinion it was a positive participation, of course we don’t like losing, but at the same time I don’t think we failed, I think we won!”

He continued: “If things always go well, we will not improve. We learn from losses, whether in football or life, and you have to know how to face those bad moments with optimism. That is life.”

Asked if he thought about retiring from international football after the Euros, he replied: “Absolutely not, it never crossed my mind. The tournament gave me more motivation to continue on the pitch. What happened was normal. There are matches in which I will not score. This is part of the game and not a problem. I do not hold myself hostage to the obsession of scoring. The goals will come naturally.”

Portugal, coached by Spaniard Roberto Martinez, will begin their Nations League campaign next Thursday against Croatia, then play Scotland on Sunday.

The two matches will be held at the “Da Luz” stadium in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
