Romelu Lukaku: ‘For me, Thierry Henry will be the new coach of the Red Devils’

A month following the elimination of the Red Devils at the World Cup in Qatar, Romelu Lukakuback in Milan, spoke at length with Sky Italia. The top scorer in the history of Belgium notably gave his favorite to succeed Robert Martinez at the head of the Belgian national team.

To me, Thierry Henry is Belgium’s next coach. There is no doubt. I say it openly: he will be the next coach. He has the respect of all the players, he has won everything. He knows how to coach, he knows what we have to do to get there. He knows the team and the staff. For me, he is the ideal coach for our national team. I don’t know who they will take, but I don’t think Belgium should start from scratch. So far this generation has not won, but we have to keep trying to win. Henry wants to win and I don’t think the federation will find a coach who wants to start from scratch. It’s not worth it to me“.

Knowing that Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois et Kevin De Bruyne would have their say regarding the choice of the future replacement of MartinezHenry might therefore leave with a head start on the other candidates for the position.
