Rome, Michelle Causo’s murderer sentenced to 20 years. “A little justice”, the reaction –

The judges of the juvenile court of Rome have sentenced to 20 years in prison the boy, now 18, of Sri Lankan origins who on June 28, 2023, in an apartment in the Roman neighborhood of Primavalle killed Michelle Causo and then got rid of the body by abandoning it in a shopping cart, in front of some garbage bins. The prosecutor of the juvenile court of Rome had requested a sentence of 30 years for the then 17-year-old, which for the choice of the abbreviated procedure drops to 20 years.

Speaking following the sentence was Daniela Bertoneri, Michelle Causo’s mother, following the reading of the sentence from the Juvenile Court of Rome: “With this sentence we are able to give Michelle a little justice. It is the first time that a minor has been sentenced to 20 years, but she deserves them all. Now let’s move on, I have another son and I will have to dedicate myself completely to him”. “I am aware of having committed a very serious crime and I want to pay for what I did. However, I did not premeditate the murder”, said the young man following the sentence, speaking from the Treviso prison.
