There are two suspects in the investigation by the Rome prosecutor’s office for manslaughter in relation to the death of a 22-year-old girl, Margaret Spada, originally from Syracuse, who died during a rhinoplasty operation in an outpatient clinic in a medical center in the capital. This is the owner of the medical center and his son, both doctors. The girl, who died last November 7, according to what was reconstructed by Adnkronos, would have felt ill after the administration of local anesthesia in the facility where she had arrived with her boyfriend from Sicily. The young woman apparently identified the medical center after seeing an advert on social media. The file is entrusted to prosecutor Erminio Amelio who has delegated the investigations and acquisitions to the Nas carabinieri. In the structure, which does not have an external sign, no documents, medical records, informed consent or registration relating to the intervention were found. In the next few hours the prosecutor will entrust the task of carrying out the autopsy to the forensic medicine institute of the Tor Vergata polyclinic.

«The family, the parents, the sister at this moment are surrounded by the affection of many people and are closed in a silence of pain that cannot be explained in words. They ask to know the circumstances and causes of their daughter’s death”, the words of the lawyer Alessandro Vinci, lawyer for Margaret Spada’s family. «The parents knew where their daughter had gone to have the operation and Margaret had entrusted herself to an Italian surgeon, she did not follow fashions or trends where one often goes in Eastern or North African countries. That structure was supposed to provide guarantees but it will be up to the investigation to ascertain this”, explained the lawyer.

What legal repercussions could the clinic owners face in the wake of Margaret Spada’s tragic death?
**Interview with Legal Expert Dr. Elena Moretti on the Tragic Case of Margaret Spada**
**Editor:** Good afternoon, Dr. Moretti. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the unfortunate case of Margaret Spada, who tragically died during a rhinoplasty operation in Rome. Can you provide us with a brief overview of the situation?
**Dr. Moretti:** Good afternoon, and thank you for having me. As we know, Margaret Spada was a 22-year-old girl who passed away after undergoing a rhinoplasty at a seemingly unregulated medical center in Rome. The investigation has revealed that there are two suspects: the owner of the clinic and his son, both of whom are medical professionals. This case raises serious concerns about medical malpractice and the standards within outpatient facilities.
**Editor:** The circumstances surrounding her death are quite alarming, particularly the lack of proper documentation at the clinic. What implications does that have for the investigation?
**Dr. Moretti:** The absence of essential documents, including medical records and informed consent forms, is indeed troubling. This indicates potential negligence on the part of the clinic and may strengthen the prosecutors’ case for manslaughter. Documentation is crucial in any medical procedure because it ensures compliance with health regulations and protects both the patient and the providers.
**Editor:** We also learned that Margaret found the clinic through social media advertising. How prevalent is this trend, and what risks does it pose to patients?
**Dr. Moretti:** Social media has become an increasingly popular platform for medical advertisements, especially for cosmetic procedures. While it can provide information, it also presents risks because not all clinics advertised are reputable. Patients might be drawn in by appealing marketing without conducting sufficient background checks. This case underscores the importance of thorough research, including checking credentials and patient reviews, before choosing a medical provider.
**Editor:** Looking ahead, what steps do you believe should be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future?
**Dr. Moretti:** There are several measures that should be considered. Firstly, stricter regulations and inspections for outpatient medical facilities are essential to ensure patient safety. Secondly, a greater emphasis on patient education about the risks associated with cosmetic procedures can empower individuals to make informed decisions. Lastly, platforms that allow advertising for medical services should be held accountable for ensuring that only licensed and accredited practitioners are promoted.
**Editor:** Thank you for your insights, Dr. Moretti. It’s a heartbreaking story that serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of safety and regulation in medical practices.
**Dr. Moretti:** Thank you for having me. It is crucial that we learn from these incidents to protect future patients.
