The senator-elect and new chairman of the Republican Party, Edwards Red, ruled out seeking a coalition with Chile Vamos, but acknowledged that they must find “some kind of coordination in Congress.”

In an interview with Third, the future parliamentarian assured that “We are not looking to form a coalition with Chile Vamos, but we do believe that we have to achieve some kind of coordination in Congress in order to be able, in those things that we agree on, to strengthen our positions ”.

“We seek the best relations with Chile. Let’s go, but we are going to keep our stamp and our imprint. We are not going to be a right submissive to the progressive consensus and less to the Boric government”He added.

And while Edwards appreciated the support shown by the ruling coalition during the second presidential round and towards the figure of José Antonio Kast, he assured that he gave them the wrong image.

Incorporating both Chile Vamos awarded us a continuity of the current President that we do not represent and took away epic, political innovation and mobilization capacity.. Perhaps we neglect the novelty represented by a candidacy outside of the traditional right that many times has been very adverse to change, “he said.

As for the future, the senator-elect stated that They are open to Kast being the party’s presidential card once more and that he “will have to see what decision he makes in a couple of years,” while expects the Republican Party “to be the most influential in Chile four years from now”.
