Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in the 2023 World Cup. Rohit, who led Mumbai Indians to many trophies in the IPL, will lead India in the first ODI World Cup.

Rohit is the captain who has won two Asia Cup titles for India including the recently concluded Asia Cup. Since the World Cup will be held in India following 2011, India will come under Rohit with a lot of expectations.

In 2019, Rohit made history with five centuries in the last World Cup held in England. His reply to the question whether he will pull out a similar performance this time has gone viral. Hitman was talking to famous journalist Vimal Kumar in an interview given on his YouTube channel.

In an interview to Vimal Kumar, Rohit’s words were that it is not regarding him or any other player in the team scoring centuries and that India winning the World Cup is more important than that. Rohit says that he trained a lot for the 2019 World Cup and believes the same this time too.

Rohit opined that we all have a tendency to want what happened in the past to happen once more, but if everything goes like 2019, we won’t get the World Cup.

“I will try to perform well and stay in a good mood in this World Cup as well. Because this is what happened in the last World Cup in 2019. I trained very well that year. I want the same this year too. But let’s say once once more that is 2019 and this is 2023.

We have a tendency to want something that happened in the past to happen once more. I scored five centuries in the last World Cup, but we also lost the World Cup. So, like in the 2019 World Cup, not everything has to happen as we wish. This time in the World Cup, it doesn’t matter if I score one, two centuries or none at all. I want to win the World Cup. It doesn’t matter who scores or how many centuries. The World Cup trophy is important. If we can’t win it, it will be a big disappointment,’ said Rohit.

Virat Kohli’s captaincy was Rohit’s career-best performance in the last World Cup which England won. He also held the world record for most centuries in a single edition in the history of the tournament.
Rohit broke the record of Sanga, the legend of Sri Lanka.
