Mumbai: Rohit Sharma has been appointed as India’s full-time captain. Earlier, Rohit, who was the captain of the fixed over cricket team, was made the captain of the Test team yesterday. Virat Kohli has stepped down as captain following losing the Test series on the tour of South Africa. Rohit replaced Kohli as captain.

There is an interesting fact when Rohit is the captain. Rohit is set to become captain at a time when many former captains are stepping down. Rohit turns 35 when he is announced as captain. He is 34 years and 308 days old. Kohli will step down at the age of 33 and 67 days.

MS Dhoni, who was the captain before Kohli, was 33 years and 172 days old when he left the Test captaincy. The current Indian coach Rahul Dravid was also once the captain. He is resigning at the age of 35. Dravid was 34 years and 210 days old at the time.

Three T20s and two Tests once morest Sri Lanka

India will play three T20 matches and two Tests once morest Sri Lanka. The squad for both series was announced yesterday. While Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were rested for the T20 squad, Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja were recalled to the squad. KL Rahul is also out as the injury has not completely healed.

Jaspreet Bumra is the vice-captain. Ruthuraj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishant Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are the batsmen. The all-rounders are Venkatesh Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja and Herschelle Patel. The bowlers are Jaspreet Bumra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Mohammad Siraj, Avesh Khan, Yusvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav.

The BCCI has also changed the venue of the previously announced matches. According to the new schedule, the first match of the T20 series will be played in Lucknow and the second and third matches will be played in Dharamsala. Earlier, Lucknow was scheduled to host the last two T20 matches. The T20 match scheduled to be played in Mohali has been shifted to Dharamshala.
