Roglic comes out of silence after his fall and points the finger at Wright: “He took the handlebars out of my hands”

Primoz Roglic went home following his fall on the 16th stage of the Vuelta and the terrible disappointment that his abandonment meant the next morning.

If he feels better and manages to walk despite his injuries, the Slovenian has not yet digested this early return home. On the website of his Jumbo-Visma team, he returned to the circumstances of his fall and in particular pointed the finger at the Briton Fred Wrightguilty according to Roglic of having performed a dangerous maneuver during the sprint.

It’s not ‘ok’. It shouldn’t have happened. People act like nothing happened. For me, that’s not the case. This is not the way I want my sport to continue. HASfter the accident, it took me some time to put my mind back together. I wondered how it was possible to have fallen like this. The way this fall happened is unacceptable. Not everyone saw it correctly. This fall was not caused by the poor quality of the asphalt or a lack of caution but by the behavior of a runner. I have no eyes in my back, otherwise I would have avoided this fall. Wright came from behind and took the handlebars out of my hands before I knew it.”said Roglic, obviously upset.

Remarks supported by the statements of the boss of his team Richard Plugge. “Ten years ago, old riders were already saying that young riders had no respect, took irresponsible risks and shot their way carelessly. These young riders, they are today’s experienced riders and we hear the same comments from them regarding young people. This needs to change and I am happy that Primoz is raising his voice to denounce this“Plugge claimed.
