Hunted: Roger Waters says Ukrainian government wants his life
The Pink Floyd co-founder has assured Rolling Stone magazine he is on a ‘kill list’ for his comments regarding the war.
Roger Waters claimed he was on a Ukrainian ‘blacklist’ following his comments regarding the Russian invasion.
In an interview with “Rolling Stone” and published Tuesday, October 4, the co-founder of Pink Floyd reaffirmed his position on the invasion of Russia in Ukraine. In an open letter, the musician had questioned Ukraine’s position in the war as a victim. His concerts were then canceled in Poland in September.
Roger Waters has responded to criticism and explained why he does not support the Ukrainian resistance.
“It’s a useless war, declares the British artist to “Rolling Stone”. And these people shouldn’t be dying. And Russia should not have been encouraged to invade Ukraine following 20 years of trying to avoid it by suggesting that Western governments take diplomatic action. »
“I’m on that fucking list”
Roger Waters, 79, also claims he was targeted in Ukraine because of his comments. “Remember that I am on a kill list supported by the Ukrainian government. I’m on that fucking list, and they’ve been killing people lately. But when they kill you, they write “liquidated” on your photo. Well, I’m one of those fucking pictures,” he said.
A far-right Ukrainian organization has indeed placed Roger Waters’ name on a list of hundreds of thousands of so-called enemies of the state, reports ‘ET Canada’. On the website, it says that it is not a “list of people to be executed”, but rather “information for law enforcement authorities and special services”.
