John Stones saved Manchester City in stoppage time.

Then there was a commotion in the big meeting against Arsenal.

Instigator: Erling Braut Haaland who planted the ball on Gabriel’s head.

The big meeting between Manchester City and Arsenal ended 2-2 at the Etihad.

But it wasn’t without drama.

The visitors took a 2-1 lead into first-half stoppage time after Gabriel headed in a corner. Before that, Erling Braut Haaland and Riccardo Calafiori had each scored a goal.

When Arsenal then got Leandro Trossard sent off just before the break, many probably thought that City would turn the game around.

– We played 45 minutes with one man less against this team, it’s a miracle, says Mikel Arteta, who was upset afterwards.

With a man more for a whole half, the home side created a lot of things, but failed to outwit a great David Raya in the goal – until the last kick.

In the 98th minute, John Stones equalized after a stalemate. When the rest of the team celebrated, Haaland took the opportunity to take the ball and throw it at Gabriel’s head. It led to a big commotion where several players were mad at each other.

Haaland himself got into a heated argument with Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly, who made his debut when he was substituted just before the equaliser.

– Haaland’s eyes when he looked at Lewis-Skelly… it was almost as if he was going to eat him, says Gary Neville in Sky Sports.

Throwed the ball at Gabriel

The late equalizer saved the home team. Man City have not lost at the Etihad since 12 November 2022 when Brentford took all the points. It’s been 681 days.

– I was a bit surprised, I’m not used to scoring so many goals, says John Stones.

The smolken in the City cup was that the star midfielder Rodri was forced to leave injured already after 20 minutes of play. The Spaniard got his right foot stuck in the grass at a corner and went down to the grass with pain in his right knee. The midfielder looked broken as he signaled for a substitution.
